Originally belonging to De Souza Pereira Coutinho, squire of
Vilar de Partridges, noble heir to the famous Domingos Mendes Dias. In 1857, the then Mayor, Francisco
de Barros Teixeira Man proposed buying the mansion to house the municipal
services. At the city council meeting of February 8, 1861 approved the purchase
of the property for 2.6 million reis, being president of the municipality
Augusto Cesar de Morais Campilho.
